Federal customs service statistics
The Customs Service maintains statistics on Russia’s trade with other countries. The data is publicly available for research and reporting.
We developed a concept to organize the data and make the website faster to work with.

Homepage
The page routes visitors to the three main sections: “Data Analytics,” “Data Export,” and “TSVT Documents.”
Colors and icons help users navigate faster — over time, they subconsciously remember the right section by its color and shape. The shape of the section group itself symbolizes statistics.

Grid
We built the layout on a four-column system that defines the structure of the rest of the pages. It is simple, yet flexible and functional enough.
For example, it makes it easier for a foreign visitor to spot the link to the English version, as the empty left column creates active negative space. The eye is naturally drawn to the link placed in exactly the right spot.

Data Analytics
In the areas where users work with data, we deliberately tried not to distract them from the task at hand. The layout helps them complete it as quickly as possible.
The fields for selecting a country, districts, and regions use smart combo boxes. They work both as an input where you can type in a value and as a list where you can choose an option:

- The date can be selected using presets or entered manually

- All matches are highlighted in search as you type

- The character does not have to be at the beginning — it can appear anywhere in the name

- The chips themselves can be rearranged to control the order of results
The design approach is consistent across all pages. For quick navigation between sections, we placed the menu in the first column next to the logo:

For the documents screen, we chose a single-line navigation between years and quarters. This saves users from precise clicking through the tree structure in the old version of the site:

We tried to make the results table as useful as possible. It takes up the full screen, and the results can be adjusted without going back to the initial screen:

We aimed to remove as many obstacles to information as possible — both visual and technical
We believe the updated site will not only make working with information easier, but also bring life to the interface. People will be more willing to return to the site to solve their tasks, the work will feel less frustrating, and the interaction will become more enjoyable.
